Leo Lunar Eclipse

Before dawn tomorrow, as the Super Full Moon passes through the Earth’s shadow, coloring it red, we’ll experience a “Blood Moon” Total Lunar Eclipse.

West Coasters will get the clearest view with everyone else seeing a portion of it. Make note of the time of totality:  5:26 am Pacific/7:26 am Central/8:26 am Eastern.

This eclipse is a bit of a high wire act. We want to answer the call of the wild heart, the part of us that cannot be tamed, the passionate aspect of self. This is Sun-Venus in Aquarius opposite the Leo Moon-North Node summoning us to reclaim the Wise Woman.

Release any need to please others during this time. Open yourself to the available light that comes rushing into your spirit when you live in integrity, even when that means standing apart from the crowd.

There’s a great movement activating the Hindu deity Kali Ma, the Dark Mother. It may feel most evident with the Women’s March and #MeToo, but this is just the eruption of a long simmering pot. Our great granddaughters will revere these times as we’re casting off millennia of shadow material on their behalf now.

The raw power of this force is truly fearsome. We’re only beginning to see what it can do.  For women on a personal level, this energy is best channeled into self-love and self-empowerment on this eclipse. Give yourself permission to self-advocate.

History tells us how potent this 11° Leo energetic portal is. There’s magnificent wisdom in this eclipse cycle, the first of which took place when King David took the throne of Israel in 971 BCE. Let’s unpack this a bit.

Eclipses – and Full Moons -- release old patterns, stagnant energy and outworn beliefs. Women are ruled by the Moon and Venus and so any Lunar Eclipse is going to have significance for us during these moments.

As a Super Moon, it’s closer to Earth than usual, amplifying its potency for change and transformation. It’s a Blue Moon, the second Full Moon in a month, which has kept emotions heightened.

There’s abundant light radiating from this lunation. Leo is a fixed fire sign that rules love, self-expression and childlike wonder. This eclipse offers cleansing, purifying fire, in the form of righteous anger or potent renewal of the True Self.

Eleven is a master number in numerology, associated with intuition, angelic communication, and the ability to instantly manifest. Once directed at your soul’s true purpose, this lunar eclipse can make magic happen.

During our last 11° Leo Lunar Eclipse, Monica Lewinsky was interrogated for six hours by Republicans and ten days later the Senate acquitted Bill Clinton on impeachment charges.

On the one before that, Jan. 20, 1981, Ronald Reagan was inaugurated the same day as the release of the 52 American hostages held by the Iranians after 444 days.

It’s interesting to note that the deadly Salem witch trials of 1692 took place around the time of an 11° Leo Lunar Eclipse — and such trials were outlawed forever after.

Benedict Arnold was exposed for treason on 11° Leo Eclipse in 1782 as the Revolutionary War raged on.

Speaking of treason, this eclipse hits Donald Trump on his natal Pluto in the 12th house of secrets, past deeds and unconscious motives.

The scandals are only just beginning. Look for Trump take some impulsive, possibly war-like action around the Feb. 15 Solar Eclipse in an attempt to reclaim power.

We’ve entered the eclipse portal. Hold tight to the reins and stay true to yourself.
