Winter Solstice 2018

We have all survived something significant this year. Whether we've experienced an actual event or a profound inner shift, 2018 has turned us all inside out.

The ground has shifted under our feet and the fissures are clear. Now we go about the business of reinforcing the foundations to launch in a new way. In a new year.

Friday's Winter Solstice honors this transition from darkness into the light.

This is also the dawn of Saturn’s season. As the Sun travels through Capricorn and then Aquarius, the planet of sweat equity and tenacity has the floor. It’s best to hear him out or find yourself backed into a corner until you do.

Since December 2017, he has demanded a lot of us. We’re a third of the way through his three-year boot camp. It’s a rigorous, unrelenting test of wills. It’s where the rubber meets the road. And we’re all the better for it.

Which brings me to the Cancer Full Moon on Dec. 22-23. Mercifully, she swells with tenderness and warmth, vision and optimism. She is the loving Mother to Saturn’s stern Father.

Our path ahead still isn’t entirely clear, but we’re flush with the beauty of what could be thanks to a tender Venus-Neptune trine. And we’re motivated to surrender to the process with Mars-Chiron conjunct.

The Solstice symbolizes the moment the Moon gives birth to the Sun. It signals our own rebirth. The balance of darkness and light. Yin and yang.

On this Cancer Full Moon, take time to reparent yourselves. Pause to celebrate your accomplishments. Heal from your failures and hold space for love.

The goal is to release the past and center yourself. Next year starts off like gangbusters!
