A Note about October
(scroll down for latest videos)
As I write this, Mercury is Retrograde, along with six other planets. So it’s no surprise I’m late getting this up! We’re inside the wormhole so please forgive any typos or digressions. Doing my best here.
The opening of October is a bit bumpy as we adjust to the frustration and slowdown of retrograde Mercury and the power struggles or willful displays that come as it squares Pluto.
The New Moon at 13° Libra on Oct. 6 isn’t especially helpful. Everyone may seem a bit on edge and irritable. There’s static in the air and maybe a melancholy you can’t quite locate. Emotional reactions could come out of nowhere as Uranus sends electric bolts to this lunation. Restlessness is the order of the day.
Here’s how you manage this:
Find ways to cultivate patience
Hear out your adversary
Reconsider your alliances
Take decisions one at a time
Remember, the planet of decision-making + tech is retrograde through Oct. 18. Mercury Retrograde loves a false sense of urgency.
Surrender to what you cannot control
Do not rush
Avoid impulse buys
Adjust expectations.
But don’t despair! There are some lovely alignments in October that you won’t want to miss! Good luck and good times are available Oct. 14-15 as the Sun in Libra trines Jupiter in Aquarius. Use this vibe or lose it!
Also, so many abandoned or struggling projects begin to rumble back to life as four of the 10 planets station DIRECT.
The planets stationing direct in October:
Oct. 6 — Pluto — Issues of resilience, transformative work + power re-emerge (first time since April 27)
Oct. 10 — Saturn — Structural + systemic problems clarify (first time since May 23)
Oct. 18 — Mercury + Jupiter — Renewed faith + optimism, good news may emerge (first time since Sept. 27 + June 20, respectively)
Once Mercury stations Direct we’ll spend the next three weeks resolving misunderstandings, mistakes + mechanical issues as Mercury moves through its post-shadow period.
Consider what started between Sept. 6-26 and notice how it resolves through Nov. 4.

Venus shifts into the sign of Sagittarius on Oct. 7, bringing exuberance + uplift to our social lives. This is a mood booster from the last three weeks of Venus in Scorpio and one the Air + Fire signs will certainly appreciate! A bit of wanderlust may seize you. Bohemian dreams inspire decor. Time to get outdoors and roam! Just try not to get carried away with spending.
The Full Moon at 27° Aries on Oct. 20 is hot-headed and cranky. Headlines of violence, volatility + impulsive power plays are to be expected. Everyone is a bit more triggered around this lunation. And yet, there’s the possibility of sudden resolutions and exuberance. What seemed impossible works out.
Scorpio Season officially casts its long shadow on Oct. 23 and we begin our solemn (and often surly) march toward winter. This is traditionally a time to go within and get serious about intimacy. Increase your focus on a goal but resist extremes and unnecessary drama. Therapy could be just what you need.
Nationally, we could see Biden become increasingly embattled as the fall wears on, while also making some hard-earned progress improving the economy and even creating jobs. The physical health of the nation improves very gradually despite continued infection spikes. The public meanwhile looks testy and security-conscious.
All things considered, though, October offers up some great moments that you don’t want to miss:
Oct. 3 — Mercury trine Jupiter
Oct. 6 — Pluto stations Direct
Oct. 9 — Mercury conjunct Sun
Oct. 10 — Saturn stations Direct
Oct. 13 — Venus sextile Saturn
Oct. 14-15 — Sun trine Jupiter
Oct. 16 — Venus sextile Mercury
Oct. 18 — Mercury stations Direct
Oct. 18 — Jupiter stations Direct
Oct. 18 — Mars trines Jupiter
Oct. 28 — Venus sextile Jupiter
