The echo chamber
We’ve been mining the depths, lately.
Searching ourselves for the meaning of the moment. As party seasons go, this one has been unusually contemplative and intense.
Personally, this might be a period of wheel-spinning, humbling revelation and honest reassessment. Meanwhile, the world out there appears to be losing its mind.
The hallucinatory qualities of Neptune, along with myriad retrogrades and the coming full moon inspire unanswerable riddles. Revolution is in the air, a synchronicity of Pluto in Aquarius.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed and uncertain, I can help.
We have a lot on our collective minds. Yet we can’t seem to settle on any one thing. As Mercury stations direct on Dec. 15, just hours after the 23° Gemini Full Moon, we may still be groping for answers and talking ourselves into circles.
On the one hand, we’re invited to acknowledge the limits of what’s achievable and how our plans must be modified as a result.
On the other hand, though, our calls remain unreturned, our meetings delayed, our plans indefinitely on hold. The path forward is thick with doubt.
This is a transitional phase. Old beliefs are dissolving. A new understanding is emerging. But it’s not fully formed yet.
Full moons typically bring situations to a head and illuminate what has been in shadow. But this full moon has a Cheshire Cat sort of mystery to it. It plays hide and seek with the truth. All is not as it seems. Look for silver linings but also read the fine print.
Disappointment and grief may cloud our judgment and warp reality. Carefully consider choices from every angle.
There is good news, though. Mercury, the mischief-maker, is on the right track now, after three weeks of testing our patience. In the next two weeks, the meaning in the madness will become more clear. Ideas will begin to solidify and take more concrete form.
As tempting as might be to numb out and doom scroll, it’s a good time to disengage from social media. Breathe fresh air instead. Or better yet, get together with friends and toast each other. Venus and Jupiter on Dec. 19 invite a little bubbly celebration.
This month, as Mars retrogrades in Leo, our egos may be bruised and we may be simmering on the sidelines, pouting. This reminds us that we get to choose how — and with whom — we share our light. Use this time to reassess what creative pursuits and relationships are truly worthy of your time.
Ultimately, we have to trust this process. Patient observation will make space for a natural unfolding of events. This is part of a much longer story.
